The Officials

The current officials who run the league are:

League of Officials

Dominic Dale Honorary President, Malcolm Dale

Malcolm Dale took over the President role in 1991, and currently sponsors one of the mens' cup competitions. Formerly the owner of Dale Sports in Hanley (he once sold me a dodgy snooker cue) Malcolm is now content with sitting on the board of the City & Suburban league. Unfortunately I don't have a colour photograph of Malcolm and so have included his namesake, Dominic Dale, one of the more colourful characters on the snooker circuit instead.

Honorary Vice President, Jack Whitehouse

Jack was a founder member of the league back in 1948 and at the first meeting he became Treasurer, a position he was to hold until he retired in 1998. From 1983 he succeeded the late Harry Miller as Vice President and he still holds that position. Upon retiring from his post as Treasurer, Jack received a crystal chalice from the clubs as a token of respect and appreciation for an outstanding fifty years service to the league.

Sue Simcock Honorary Chairman, Sue Simcock

Sue has been involved in the City & Suburban League for many years now and a good number of those years have seen her involved in an official capacity. Indeed not just content with her role on the committee of this league, Sue is also the Secretary of the British Schools Tennis Association (BSTA) Stafforshire, where she is responsible for the administration of this association, liasing between BSTA Stafforshire and the Staffs LTA in an effort to promote tennis within schools.

Kevin Harper Honorary Secretary, Kevin Harper
Address:6 Dover Street, Birches Head, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 2NN
Telephone:(01782) 268938    Mobile:07976521529

Kevin has been in office as secretary for some six years now. A playing member of Endon tennis club, he has played City & Suburban tennis for quite a number of years, where his former teams include Etruria and Hanley Park. Away from tennis Kevin is a well known figure amongst the market traders of North Staffordshire, where he runs both Archer Fairs and Leek Antiques Market. In fact Archer Fairs has a website produced and maintained by Endon member Jon Weston, where a colour photograph of a rather youthful looking Kevin can be found.

David Roper Honorary Treasurer, Dave Roper

Dave took over from Big Dave Barker as Honorary Treasurer in 2005, following a successful though highly demanding and exceptionally busy and stessful role as the League's Auditor. Affectionately known as "Foggy", the League's financial state is in safe hands whilst Dave is in post, with rumours circulating that next years AGM buffet will be scrapped, and attendees will have to bring their own packed lunch as well as paying a £5 entrance fee!!! A member of Bucknall Park Dave has now been playing league tennis since 1995. Aside from tennis, Dave's other hobbies include football where he is a season ticket holder at Stoke, cricket and golf. He's also an active trainspotter, and has a fascination for maps.

Honorary Press Secretary, Colin Kinshott

Colin's role involves collating all the league results (sometimes chasing up missing results), producing the tables, and then passing this information on to the local media and indeed to me. Colin is a playing member of Abbey View tennis club.

Rich MacKensie Auditor, Rich MacKensie

Rich needed a great deal of persuading to take on this highly strenuous and taxing role as the League's Auditor, especially as he will now need to balance this new role with his position as Bucknall Park Secretary. Away from tennis Rich can usually be found being "run ragged" by his wife Jackie, his two young children Ethan and Maddie and his dog Murphy.

Assistant Secretary, Mr P.Jenkins

Additional Committee Members - Mrs N.Edgerton, Mr N.Howse, Mrs M.Hudson
