2002 Season Review

Season Report - Halfway Stage

Ladies Leagues

Division 1
Abbey View A have opened up a 3½ point gap on nearest rivals Basford, having won 5 and drawn 3 of their matches. Draycott, who won the league in 2000, find themselves bottom and favourites for the drop. They trail Endon A by 3½ points and have some hard work to do if they are to maintain 1st Division status.

Division 2
Abbey View B continue to go well in Division 2, and although the result between nearest rivals Florence and Endon B is not yet know, they will still hold top spot.

Mens Leagues

Division 1
The championship has developed into a two horse race with just 2 points separating Draycott A and Florence A. Knypersley A are adrift by 5 points in 3rd place. At the foot of the table, Endon B are almost certain to be relegated, and Knypersley B find themselves 3½ points behind Endon A and Draycott B in the fight to avoid the drop to Division 2.

Division 2
The Borough A have a healthy 5½ point lead at the top of Division 2 and seem well on course for the title. The battle for the 2nd promotion spot sees just ½ point between Westlands, Florence C and Stone A and seems destined to go to the wire. Basford B are well behind at the bottom of the table, and there is 1 point between Bucknall A and Knypersley C.

Division 3
Played 8 Won 8 Points 26. That's the impressive statistic that has catapulted Alsager FR A to the top of Division 3. They lead by some 7 points, with Florence C, Basford D and Stone B jockeying for the remaining promotion place. Bucknall B and Alsager FR B look favourites to be demoted, although both Draycott C and Abbey View C, could yet still be sucked into the relegation battle.

Division 4
Florence D head the way in Division 4 and Abbey View E, who have a result yet to come in follow in 2nd. Both Florence E and Endon D are close enough to take advantage of any slip ups, which could lead to an exciting finale in the end of season shake up.

Mixed League

Although quite a few results are still not yet known, it appears that the title will go to either Draycott or Alsager A who have opened up a considerable lead on the rest.
